History of National Defence Universiti Malaysia (UPNM) begins with the army embodiment Academy Malaysia (ATMA) on June 1, 1995 as the organization responsible for running the program in the ranking of the Bachelor study and training to employees ketenteraan army Cadet Force of Malaysia (ATM). The role of ATMA then diperluaskan to make it as UPNM proclaimed on 10 November 2006.
Although UPNM students to embark on taking the first set of session 2007/2008, in fact he has had experience teaching in the program controlling the Bachelor ranks for 11 years namely from 1995 to 2006 through a partnership program between the Ministry of Defence with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1017 where as busy as more or less graduan has been issued in the three areas that cover Kejuruteraan, Science and Arrangement. Besides obtaining the professional eligibility, all employees graduan has ditauliahkan as ATM and they are being submissive at various army units in the Army, the army and army Sea Malaysian Malaysian Air.
UPNM has been embodied by the Kingdom of Malaysia on June 21, 2006 for issuing graduan army and lay people for national defense purposes. UPNM perbadanan command has been issued on 6 November 2006 to set about teaching academic session 2007/2008. For students taking the new session 2007/2008 as busy as 550 students reported to Rights Defense Program comprising 121 students and 350 students army lay. Meanwhile, for the baccalaureate program as busy as 130 students and 297 students lay Rights Defense will follow the baccalaureate program in the field of Kejuruteraan, Science and Technology and the Defense Clearance and Pengajian. For tee recitation session 2007/2008 has been setting up the 3 pieces UPNM next fakulti Rights Defense Center Fakulti Kejuruteraan namely Defence, Defence Science and Technology Fakulti and Fakulti and Pengajian Defence Arrangement.
Academic programs offered at the IPTA setanding fakulti is outside and inside the country. The program will be able to attract students kerana it provides a curriculum that cover the field of science and technology in the form of hands on defense. Knowledge that is obtained may be applied to assets such as national defense army marine vessels, aircraft and equipment in the Armed army ketenteraan Malaysia (ATM). In addition, it can be applied in the industrial sector which berteraskan science and technology.
